As a proud supplier of exquisite door handles, we're thrilled to shed light on the meticulous craftsmanship behind Heritage Brass, a brand renowned for its exceptional finishes that exude timeless elegance. Understanding and maintaining these finishes is essential to preserving the beauty of these exquisite pieces.

Heritage Brass offers a variety of finishes, each requiring specific care to ensure their longevity and allure.

Matt Bronze

The Matt Bronze finish by Heritage Brass showcases a unique ageing process, combining a carefully aged brass with a clear lacquer to maintain its appearance. Over time, the bronze colour may lighten in frequently touched areas, creating a charming aged look that exposes the underlying brass. It's important to note that as this finish evolves, it doesn't come with a warranty.

Antique Brass

In the case of Antique Brass, Heritage Brass polishes the brass, applying a bronze patina over the entire surface. Skilled artisans delicately remove parts of the patina, revealing the brass underneath and creating a striking array of shades, making each piece distinctive. To protect this unique finish, a clear electrophoretic lacquer is applied.

Polished Nickel, a Living Finish

The Polished Nickel finish involves nickel plating on highly polished brass. This finish, left uncoated, naturally oxidizes over time, subtly developing an aged patina. Regular buffing with a soft cloth helps maintain its appearance.

Black Iron Rustic

Crafted by pouring molten iron into moulds and treated with a phosphating process, the Black Iron Rustic range boasts a distinctive appearance, displaying slight indentations that contribute to its aged aesthetic. To prevent rust, a powder-coated black finish is applied. Maintenance tips are recommended due to the inherent nature of iron products.

Lacquered Finish

Heritage Brass offers various finishes under the lacquered category. Regular maintenance is crucial to prolong the life of these finishes, as lacquer may deteriorate over time. Weather conditions and environmental exposure can accelerate this process. Applying a non-abrasive wax coating can aid in protecting the lacquer for external products.

Polished Chrome, Satin Chrome, Apollo, and PVD Finishes Regularly cleaning these finishes with a non-abrasive cloth is key to their longevity. Periodic oiling of moving parts is also advised for external fittings.

Black Iron Door Furniture Similar to the Black Iron Rustic finish, regular cleaning is necessary to maintain the life of the finish. Exposure to humidity can prompt rusting, so occasional oiling and wiping down the fittings are recommended.

It's important to note that the lifespan of lacquer and certain finishes is subject to various environmental factors, beyond the control of the manufacturer, thus lacking a guarantee.

Heritage Brass door handles are a testament to timeless beauty and exquisite craftsmanship. Understanding the care required for each finish ensures that these pieces remain a stunning addition to any space for years to come. Remember, proper maintenance is the key to preserving their allure.

When was M.Marcus Established?

M.Marcus, the parent company of Heritage Brass, was established in April 1940, showcasing a long-standing tradition of excellence and expertise in the industry.

M.Marcus and Heritage Brass

In the 1980s, M.Marcus began offering door furniture under the distinguished brand name Heritage Brass, reflecting their commitment to quality and innovation.

Quality of Brass in Heritage Brass Products

Heritage Brass door furniture is meticulously crafted using hot forged brass, ensuring not only strength but also a superior finish, emphasizing durability and an impeccable aesthetic.

Durability of Springs in Heritage Brass Door Furniture

The springs used in Heritage Brass door furniture undergo stringent testing, offering an impressive 100,000 lever operations and a 10-year mechanism warranty for residential use, ensuring long-lasting durability.

Locks and Latches with Heritage Brass

The spindles supplied with Heritage Brass door furniture accommodate common domestic door thicknesses, while longer spindles are available for doors with greater thickness, ensuring a perfect fit.

Fixing of Round Rose Door Furniture

For maximum security, it's recommended to use bolts rather than woodscrews to securely clamp handles to the door. This ensures a robust attachment and minimizes any tendency for the inner rose to rotate after fitting.

Are Heritage Brass Handles Suitable for Use on Fire Doors?

When paired with a CE-marked mortice latch or lock, Heritage Brass door levers are suitable for use on 30 and 60-minute timber-based fire doors, complying with safety regulations.

Why are Heritage Brass Mortice Knobs Sprung on One Side Only?

The ingenious design of Heritage Brass mortice knobs being sprung on one side ensures comfortable rotation without compromising functionality, offering a smart solution for installations.

Which latches should I use with Heritage Brass mortice knobs?

Opting for a 3" tubular latch or longer is recommended, providing a comfortable distance from the door frame for knob rotation. For privacy, pairing it with a bathroom bolt and turn & emergency release is suggested.

10-Year Mechanism Warranty

Heritage Brass stands behind the quality of their products, offering a comprehensive 10-year mechanism warranty that covers spring mechanism issues due to faulty workmanship or materials, provided misuse or lack of maintenance doesn’t occur.

Embrace the legacy of Heritage Brass by M. Marcus, where each piece of door hardware embodies excellence, durability, and thoughtful design, ensuring an elegant and reliable touch to your living spaces.
