What is a gravity flap letter plate?

A gravity flap letter plate uses the weight of the flap to naturally fall shut after use. It’s a traditional style often seen on older timber doors, especially in period properties. However, gravity flap letter plates aren't as widely used today, and there are fewer style and finish options available compared to sprung flap models. One downside is that the flap can be caught by the wind, which may cause draughts or lead to the flap banging noisily against the door in strong weather.

What sizes are available?
