Heritage Brass Finishes
Shop Heritage Brass by Finish: Brass, Bronze, Chrome, Nickel and Black
Heritage Brass by M.Marcus makes its door handles, door furniture, window furniture, kitchen and cabinet hardware, hinges and accessories in the same finishes. That means you can choose one finish and match every lever handle, hinge, window fastener, cupboard knob and coat hook in the house. Each page below brings together every Heritage Brass product in that finish. Heritage Brass is made from solid brass, with the finish plated or lacquered over the brass, apart from unlacquered brass, which is left bare.
Heritage Brass Finishes
- Satin brass: a soft, brushed gold with a low sheen that suits both modern and traditional homes.
- Antique brass: a darker, aged brass with russet tones, a favourite for period homes and cottages.
- Polished brass: a bright, mirror-like gold, the classic finish for traditional front doors and Georgian and Victorian interiors.
- Unlacquered brass: natural brass with no lacquer, which darkens and develops a patina with use.
- Matt bronze: a dark, warm bronze that suits painted doors, oak and Shaker kitchens.
- Matt black: a modern black finish for contemporary interiors and black framed glazing.
- Polished chrome: a bright, cool, mirror finish that suits modern homes and bathrooms.
- Satin chrome: a brushed chrome with a soft sheen that shows fewer fingerprints than polished chrome.
- Polished nickel: a bright finish with a slightly warmer tone than polished chrome.
- Satin nickel: a brushed nickel with a soft, warm grey tone.
- Satin rose gold: a soft pink gold with a satin sheen, made mainly in kitchen and cabinet hardware.
- Combination finishes: two-tone designs, such as matt bronze with satin brass or satin nickel.

Heritage Brass Finish Questions
Do all Heritage Brass products come in every finish?
No. The core finishes, satin brass, antique brass, polished brass, matt bronze, polished chrome, satin chrome, polished nickel and satin nickel, cover most of the range. Matt black, satin rose gold and unlacquered brass are made in a smaller selection of designs.
Can I match my door handles, hinges and cabinet handles in one finish?
Yes. Heritage Brass uses the same finishes across door handles, hinges, window furniture, cabinet hardware and accessories, so one finish can run through the whole house.
Which finishes show fingerprints least?
Satin and matt finishes, such as satin brass, satin nickel, satin chrome and matt bronze, hide fingerprints and marks better than polished finishes.
What is the difference between antique brass and unlacquered brass?
Antique brass is a finish applied to give an aged look straight away. Unlacquered brass is bare brass that starts bright and darkens naturally over time with handling.

How to Choose a Heritage Brass Finish
Choose the finish first. Pick one finish and every Heritage Brass product in the house can match it: door handles and knobs, hinges, window furniture, kitchen and cabinet hardware and accessories. Few other ranges cover all of these in the same finishes.
Warm or cool? Satin brass, antique brass, polished brass and matt bronze are warm tones that sit well with oak, painted joinery and period homes. Polished chrome, satin chrome, polished nickel and satin nickel are cooler and match chrome taps, appliances and modern interiors.
Polished or satin? Polished finishes are bright and reflective. Satin and matt finishes have a softer look and hide fingerprints better on busy doors.
Something different. Matt black suits contemporary homes and black framed glazing, satin rose gold is popular for kitchens and bathrooms, unlacquered brass ages naturally, and the combination finishes pair matt bronze with satin brass or satin nickel.
