From The Anvil Door Furniture Accessories

Front Door Furniture and Door Accessories by From The Anvil

From The Anvil door furniture accessories are the pieces that finish a door once the handles, locks and hinges are fitted: the letter plate, door knocker, centre door knob and house numbers on the front door, and the escutcheons, door stops and finger plates on the doors inside.

They are made in the same finishes as From The Anvil door handles, so one door, or a whole house, can carry a single scheme. Hand forged blacksmith pieces come in Black, Pewter and Beeswax; solid brass and bronze pieces in polished, aged, satin and burnished brass, aged and polished bronze, polished nickel, polished and satin chrome, and marine grade stainless steel for coastal homes.

From The Anvil Door Furniture: Questions

What is in the From The Anvil door furniture accessories range?

Everything that goes on a door apart from the handles, locks and hinges: letter plates and letterboxes, door knockers, centre door knobs, house numbers and letters, keyhole and euro escutcheons, cylinder pulls, bathroom thumbturns, door stops, finger plates and kick plates, door closers with matching covers, door viewers and chains, door signs, and sliding and pocket door kits.

Letter plate or letterbox: which do I need?

From The Anvil letter plates suit solid timber doors and are fitted with threaded bolts, with an optional letter plate cover on the inside. For composite and uPVC doors from 42mm to 72mm thick, From The Anvil recommends its Traditional letterbox, a full kit with a tunnel and draught brushes.

How do I match my front door furniture?

Choose one finish and, where you can, one design for the whole door. Many From The Anvil designs come as a set, such as the Art Deco door knocker, centre door knob and letter plate, and the house numbers, escutcheons and cylinder pulls are made in the same brass, bronze, nickel, chrome, black and pewter finishes.

Keyhole escutcheon or euro escutcheon?

Look at the lock. A traditional lever mortice lock takes a standard keyhole escutcheon. A euro profile lock with a euro cylinder takes a euro escutcheon, and a rim cylinder with a night latch takes a rim cylinder pull.

Buying Guide

How to Choose From The Anvil Door Furniture

Start with the finish already on your door handles, then work through the door. These are the main things to check.

1. The letter plate: a letter plate for a solid timber door, with a letter plate cover inside to limit draughts, or a Traditional letterbox kit for composite and uPVC doors 42mm to 72mm thick.

2. The knocker and knob: bolt through door knockers fix right through the door, surface fixed knockers screw to the front. Many designs have a matching centre door knob.

3. The lock: a lever mortice lock takes a keyhole escutcheon, a euro cylinder a euro escutcheon or euro door pull, and a night latch a rim cylinder pull. Bathrooms need a thumbturn.

4. The finishing touches: house numbers and letters are 78mm high, door stops fit to the skirting or the floor, and finger plates and kick plates protect busy doors.

5. Heavier jobs: check the door width and weight against the door closer, sliding door kit or pocket door kit specification before you order.
