How to choose a parliament hinge size

Measure how far the door must project to clear the obstruction, such as a deep architrave or window reveal. The 4 x 2 x 4 inch hinge suits standard architraves, the 4 x 3 x 5 inch gives more clearance for moulded or panelled surrounds, and the 4 x 4 x 6 inch is for the deepest reveals and internal window shutters. Use three hinges on heavy or full height doors.
