Which 4 inch hinge suits my door?

For a standard 44mm internal door, a pair of 4 x 2 5/8 or 4 x 3 inch washered hinges is ideal. Heavy solid oak, hardwood and front doors need three 4 x 3 or 4 x 4 inch washered or thrust bearing hinges. Where a door must fold back past a deep architrave, choose a 4 inch parliament hinge. For fire doors, choose the Steel Line 4 x 3 x 3 inch ball bearing fire door hinge and fit it with intumescent hinge pads.

Care tip: lacquered finishes such as polished brass, satin brass, antique brass, matt bronze and satin nickel should only be wiped with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid metal polish and aerosol cleaners, which break down the lacquer. Polished nickel is a living finish that develops a gentle patina unless buffed regularly, and natural brass is supplied unlacquered so it will darken over time.
