Black Iron Through the Whole House

The Black Iron Rustic range covers almost every fitting in a cottage, barn conversion or farmhouse, so one finish can run from the front door to the back gate.

Front door. A black iron door knocker or ring knocker, a 10 x 4 or 13 1/2 x 3 inch letter plate, 76mm numerals, a bell push and a door chain, with a matching Euro profile handle on plate for a Euro cylinder sash lock.

Internal doors. Black iron door handles on plate in the Ashfield, Bridgnorth, Cheswell, Grafton, Hadley, Ironbridge and Ludlow designs, each with latch, lock, bathroom and Euro versions, or the Claverley, Donnington and Hanwood levers on a square rose.

Kitchen. Black iron cupboard pull handles and cupboard knobs suit painted Shaker, oak and farmhouse kitchens, with drop pulls and cup pulls for dressers and drawers.

Bathrooms. Every lever-on-plate design has a bathroom set, and there is a thumbturn and release and a snib and release for doors with a handle on rose.

Windows. Black iron casement fasteners and stays in 8, 10 and 12 inch suit cottage casement windows.

Hall and boot room. Coat hooks, a hat and coat hook and cabin hooks keep the same finish by the back door.

Tee hinges, latches, bolts and studs

Hardware for Ledged Doors, Gates and Outbuildings

Black iron is the traditional choice for ledged and braced doors, stable doors, garden gates and outbuildings. Here is what the range offers.

Tee hinges. Black tee hinges in 12, 15 and 18 inch carry ledged doors and gates. As a rough guide, choose a strap about two thirds the width of the door.

Dummy hinges. Straight dummy hinges in 308mm and 400mm add a decorative strap look to the face of a door. They do not carry any weight, so use them with working hinges.

Latches. Gate latches and a ring handle gate latch hold gates and outbuilding doors closed.

Bolts and studs. 6 and 8 inch flat bolts secure doors and gates, and 19mm and 40mm square studs add a traditional detail to plank doors.

Pull handles. 10 and 12 inch cranked pull handles give a firm grip on heavy ledged doors and gates.

Locks. For doors that need a lock, York Security matt black locks and latches keep the edge of the door black too.
