For standard internal doors (usually 35mm thick), 3" x 2" (75mm x 50mm) washered hinges are most common. For heavier external doors or thicker timber, step up to 4" x 3" (102mm x 75mm). Always fit three hinges per door for optimal load support and reduced warping over time.

Black washered hinges are also available in projection and parliament designs for wider openings or where you need clearance around architraves or window reveals.
