What Is a Blank Escutcheon and When Should You Use One?

A blank profile escutcheon—also called an escutcheon blank or keyhole cover blank—is a decorative plate that hides keyholes that are no longer needed. Whether you’ve removed an old lock, blocked off a cylinder, or installed a dummy knob for symmetry, blank escutcheons are the professional way to cover holes without leaving visible gaps or filler behind.

These are commonly used in both residential and commercial settings—on interior or exterior doors—and can be paired with door handles on rose, mortice knobs, or other door furniture sets.

Styles, Finishes, and Compatibility

Choose from a range of finishes including polished chrome, satin chrome, antique brass, matt black, and satin stainless steel to coordinate with your existing hardware. Our blank escutcheon plates are available in both round and square designs, suitable for timber or composite doors.
