From The Anvil Beeswax Door Knobs

Beeswax and External Beeswax Blacksmith Door Knobs

Beeswax is From The Anvil's most traditional finish, with a soft, natural look and subtle blue and deep red ochre tones preserved in the steel. Each knob is hand forged from mild steel and dipped in hot beeswax, which suits cottages and older homes.

Standard Beeswax is made for inside use. For outside doors and damp areas, choose External Beeswax, which uses an anti-corrosive beeswax so it can be used internally and externally. The Oval, Round and Octagonal knobs come in both, and the Regency knob in External Beeswax. The majority of From The Anvil mortice and rim knobs are unsprung, so they rely on the spring in the lock or latch to return the knob. Check each product page, and From The Anvil recommends a 3, 4 or 5 inch heavy duty latch or lock.

Beeswax Door Knobs: Questions

What is the difference between Beeswax and External Beeswax?

They look the same. External Beeswax uses an anti-corrosive beeswax, so it can be used outside and in damp areas, while standard Beeswax is for inside use.

How do I look after a beeswax knob?

A beeswax knob may show a white bloom when unpacked, which buffs off with a soft cloth. From The Anvil recommends re-applying its Maintenance Wax now and then.
