The From The Anvil Gothic Thumblatch in Black is a traditional Gothic door latch for cottage, ledged and braced, and plank doors. It is sold individually. Pair it with matching hinges and bolts in black to finish the door.

Product Features

• Our Blacksmith thumblatches are hammered into shape from mild steel using a traditional anvil and fire manufacturing method.
• Thumblatches are typically used in conjunction with a T hinge on traditional plank doors.
• Maximum door thickness: 55mm.
• Supplied with matching SS wood screws.

About the Gothic Design

Traditionally used on a ledge and braced door, our thumb latch sets include a decorative door latch with a thumb shaped lever. When this lever is pressed down, it operates a thumb bar. The thumb bar passes through the door, lifting the latch bar on the opposite side and allowing the door to open. Our Black products have a distinctive, subtle sheen; hand forged from mild steel this finish are extremely low maintenance, offering excellent corrosion resistance and durability as a result of being powder coated, then baked in a high temperature oven during the final stages of manufacturing. An extremely low maintenance finish, ideal for use in kitchens and bathrooms, or externally where damp conditions are expected.

An oily cloth can be used to wipe over the finish from time to time to remove any harmful deposits that build up on the surface of your product, this will also aid protection against any environmental elements.

To increase the mechanical life expectancy of your products, we recommend regular oiling of all moving parts using our '3-in-1 Oil' (92337). This process is also highly recommended during initial installation.

For any minor scratches that may occur with general wear and tear of your product, we offer a durable 'Black Touch Up Paint' (73101) if required.
