The Heritage Brass ball bearing hinge by M.Marcus uses thrust bearings and a hardened steel pin, giving the smoothest possible swing and the longest service life. That makes it the natural choice for front doors, heavy oak and hardwood doors and busy doors in commercial settings.

Ball bearing or washered hinges?

M.Marcus describes these hinges as both ball bearing and thrust bearing hinges - the thrust bearing is the type of ball bearing used, designed to take the downward load of the door. The result is minimal wear, no squeaking and very little maintenance. For doors over around 40kg, or any front door, fit three 4 x 3 or 4 x 4 inch bearing hinges. For lighter internal doors, a double phosphor washered hinge is usually sufficient.

Care tip: lacquered finishes such as polished brass, satin brass, antique brass, matt bronze and satin nickel should only be wiped with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid metal polish and aerosol cleaners, which break down the lacquer. Polished nickel is a living finish that develops a gentle patina unless buffed regularly, and natural brass is supplied unlacquered so it will darken over time.
