Small butt hinges are the finishing detail on quality furniture, display cabinets, jewellery boxes and built in cupboards. The Heritage Brass cabinet hinge is made by M.Marcus in solid brass and comes in 1 inch and 1 1/2 inch lengths, so you can match the finish of your cabinet knobs and pulls exactly.

Fitting small cabinet hinges

Butt hinges are recessed into the door and carcass so the leaves sit flush. On small doors use two hinges, set roughly one hinge length in from the top and bottom. Pre drill the tiny screw holes to avoid splitting timber and use the brass screws supplied, as steel screws can discolour brass over time.

Care tip: lacquered finishes such as polished brass, satin brass, antique brass, matt bronze and satin nickel should only be wiped with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid metal polish and aerosol cleaners, which break down the lacquer. Polished nickel is a living finish that develops a gentle patina unless buffed regularly, and natural brass is supplied unlacquered so it will darken over time.
