Living with a natural brass finish

Because there is no lacquer to break down, natural brass hinges never peel or flake. To keep them bright, polish occasionally with a brass cleaner; to encourage a deeper aged look, simply leave them alone. Pair with unlacquered door handles and accessories for a consistent patina throughout the home.

Care tip: lacquered finishes such as polished brass, satin brass, antique brass, matt bronze and satin nickel should only be wiped with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid metal polish and aerosol cleaners, which break down the lacquer. Polished nickel is a living finish that develops a gentle patina unless buffed regularly, and natural brass is supplied unlacquered so it will darken over time.
