When to choose steel washered hinges

Steel washered hinges are ideal for standard weight internal doors in homes, rentals and developments where budget matters but you still want a brass hinge. For heavy solid oak or front doors, step up to a double phosphor washered or thrust bearing hinge.

Care tip: lacquered finishes such as polished brass, satin brass, antique brass, matt bronze and satin nickel should only be wiped with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid metal polish and aerosol cleaners, which break down the lacquer. Polished nickel is a living finish that develops a gentle patina unless buffed regularly, and natural brass is supplied unlacquered so it will darken over time.
