Is a 3 inch hinge big enough?

3 inch hinges are suitable for lightweight internal doors up to around 35mm thick and for cupboard and wardrobe doors. For standard 44mm internal doors, heavier solid doors or fire doors, choose a 4 inch hinge. The second figure (for example 3 x 2) is the open width of both leaves, which should suit the thickness of your door.
