Mortice or Rim? Understanding Your Options

Mortice knobs are used with internal latches or locks that are hidden inside the door edge. These are commonly found in modern or updated homes, offering a flush, clean installation. The knob is mounted on either side of the door, joined by a spindle that passes through the mortice latch.

Rim knobs are made for surface-mounted locks, known as rim locks. These are often used in older properties or traditional settings, where the lock mechanism is visible on one side of the door.
