The Tudor Collection Black Iron Door Furniture

Black Iron Door Handles, Hinges and Accessories by M.Marcus

The Tudor Collection is the black iron range from M.Marcus, the British manufacturer behind Heritage Brass. It brings together lever handles on backplate, strap hinges and clavos, door bolts, gate latches, letter plates, numerals and cabinet pulls, all in a matching antique black finish. It is the natural choice for cottages, barn conversions, farmhouses and period properties where polished brass or chrome would look out of place.

What Is in the Tudor Range

  • Black iron lever handles - Colonial, Fleur de Lys, Shropshire, Wellington, Windsor and Wroxeter designs on latch, lock and bathroom backplates.
  • Strap hinges and clavos - decorative black iron strap hinges for ledged and braced doors, gates and cupboards.
  • Bolts, latches and gate hardware - straight and cranked door bolts plus black iron gate latches.
  • Front door and accessories - letter plates, escutcheons, hooks and house numerals in the same finish, see Tudor black iron door accessories.
  • Windows and cabinets - Tudor black iron window furniture and drop pulls for kitchens and dressers.

Choosing Black Iron Door Furniture

Black iron suits internal doors, cottage kitchens and sheltered front doors. The antique black finish is a coating over iron, so for doors facing the weather or near the coast we recommend wiping it down regularly and treating any marks with a little wax; for fully exposed coastal doors a marine grade stainless steel product is the better long term choice. When ordering lever handles, match the backplate function (latch, lock or bathroom) to the lock in your door, and add a mortice lock or latch if you are fitting a new door.

If you prefer a rustic look with a softer tone, compare the M.Marcus matt black rustic iron range or traditional thumb and ring latch sets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is black iron door furniture suitable for internal doors?
Yes. Black iron lever handles, strap hinges and bolts are widely used on internal cottage doors, ledged and braced doors and kitchen doors, and the matching cabinet pulls let you carry the look onto units and dressers.

Is the Tudor range made by M.Marcus?
Yes. The Tudor Collection is part of the M.Marcus family of brands, alongside Heritage Brass, Sorrento, York Security, Steel Line and Project Hardware.

Why Buy M.Marcus From Trade Door Handles

Trade Door Handles is the online arm of T.H. Wiggans Ironmongery, an independent ironmonger trading from Kendal since 1976, with a second trade counter in Carlisle serving the North of England and South of Scotland. Both showrooms carry a large M.Marcus and Heritage Brass display, so our team handles these products every day and can help you match finishes, check fixing sizes and put together complete door, window and cabinet schedules for homes, renovations and trade projects anywhere in the UK.
