Hand-Forged Beeswax Fanlight Stays and Catches

Fanlights are the small, high windows that open from the top or bottom. From The Anvil makes beeswax fanlight hardware to control how far they open and to let you open them from below.

Beeswax is the most traditional From The Anvil finish, with a soft, natural look and subtle blue and deep red ochre tones preserved in the steel during manufacture. Each piece is hand forged from mild steel and then dipped in hot beeswax, which gives a soft, matt richness and suits older, traditional homes and cottage interiors. Standard Beeswax is for internal use only. For damp rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms, or anywhere outside, choose External Beeswax window furniture, which has the same look.

• 6 and 8 inch roller arm stays for bottom hung fanlights; the arm hangs down against the frame when the window is closed
• 7 and 8.5 inch quadrant stays, sold in pairs, to restrict how far a bottom hung fanlight opens
• Fanlight catch with two keeps for flush or recessed fitting; its loop lets you open a high window with a pole and hook. For inward-opening windows only

Roller arm or quadrant stay?

Both are for bottom hung fanlights and restrict how far the window opens. Roller arm stays are sold individually in 6 and 8 inch lengths; quadrant stays are sold in pairs in 7 and 8.5 inch lengths.

How do I look after beeswax window furniture?

If a white bloom appears when you unpack it, caused by temperature changes or packaging, buff it off with a soft cloth. Re-apply a little From The Anvil Maintenance Wax from time to time with a cloth or brush, and oil moving parts with 3-in-1 Oil, including when you first fit them.
