From The Anvil Beeswax Thumb Latches

Beeswax Thumblatches and Cottage Latches for Period Homes

Beeswax is From The Anvil's most traditional finish, with a soft, natural look and subtle blue and deep red ochre tones preserved in the steel. Each latch is hand forged from mild steel and dipped in hot beeswax, which suits older homes and cottage interiors.

Standard Beeswax is made for inside use. For outside doors, gates and damp areas such as kitchens and bathrooms, choose External Beeswax, which uses an anti-corrosive beeswax so it can be fitted internally and externally. This collection shows both.

Beeswax Thumb Latches: Questions

What is the difference between Beeswax and External Beeswax?

They look the same, and both are hand forged from mild steel and dipped in hot beeswax. External Beeswax uses an anti-corrosive beeswax, so it can be used outside and in damp areas, while standard Beeswax is for inside use.

How do I look after a beeswax latch?

A beeswax latch may show a white bloom when unpacked, which buffs off with a soft cloth. From The Anvil recommends re-applying its Maintenance Wax now and then, and oiling the moving parts with 3-in-1 Oil.
