What is a euro lock backplate handle?

A euro lock backplate handle is cut for a euro profile cylinder, the common modern lock on uPVC, composite and many timber doors. The cylinder is bought to suit the door thickness.

Do I need a separate cylinder?

Yes. The handle is supplied for a euro cylinder, which you choose separately to match the door thickness and the level of security you want.

What is the difference between euro and standard lock backplates?

A euro backplate takes a euro profile cylinder, while a standard lock backplate has a traditional keyhole for a mortice sashlock and key.

Euro Backplates Explained

A euro backplate has a shaped cut-out for a euro profile cylinder rather than a traditional keyhole. Pair it with a suitable euro cylinder to match the door thickness and security level. For traditional keyholes see the lock backplate version, and compare the wider euro lock door handles on backplate range.
