What is a Size 2–6 Door Closer?

A size 2-6 door closer is an overhead closer with adjustable spring strength, making it suitable for multiple door types. These closers are commonly used in architectural ironmongery applications, including schools, hospitals, offices, and apartment buildings. They are ideal for internal doors and can adapt to various installation setups such as Fig 1, Fig 61, and Fig 66 positions.

Features & Benefits

  • Adjustable power settings: Ideal for varying door weights and widths.
  • Fire-rated performance: CE marked and EN1154 certified for fire doors.
  • Backcheck and delayed action: Smooth, controlled closing action in high-traffic environments.
  • High traffic use: Perfect for commercial doors requiring durability and consistency.
  • CE & Certifire tested: Complies with safety and quality benchmarks in the UK.

Installation & Door Compatibility

These closers are usually installed on the pull side (hinge side) of the door, with the body fixed to the door and the arm attached to the frame. If this isn’t suitable, you can use a Figure 66 bracket for parallel arm mounting on the push side. Note: While some users do fit them externally, size 2-6 door closers are typically not designed or tested for outdoor use due to unpredictable weather exposure.

Common environments include care homes, commercial buildings, schools, retail units, and hospitality venues. We stock leading brands such as GEZE, Dorma, Briton, Rutland, Boss Door Controls, and Euro Spec.
