Heavy duty, ball bearing hinges are often used for exterior doors weighing 80kg or more. Fire doors should be fitted with three fire door hinges or more; a CE or UKCA mark proves the hinge is tested and suitable for fire-rated doors. Hinges are made from two metal plates attached together with a removable pin.
