Aged, Polished, Satin and Burnished Brass Mortice Knobs

Brass door knobs are a classic choice for period homes and work just as well on painted modern doors. Most From The Anvil brass knobs are forged from solid brass and hand finished, in four finishes: Aged Brass, which keeps a darker patina in the recesses and darkens over time; Polished Brass, bright and classic; Satin Brass, brushed and lacquered; and Burnished Brass, with a soft, aged warmth.

Designs include Brompton, Heavy Beehive, Mushroom, Hammered Mushroom, Prestbury, Elmore, Brockworth, Tewkesbury, Ball, Oval and Flower, plus wooden knobs with brass roses. Most designs are mortice/rim knob sets, supplied as loose parts so you can build them to suit your door: use both roses for a mortice knob on a mortice latch or lock, or one rose for a rim knob on a rim lock. The majority of From The Anvil mortice and rim knobs are unsprung, so they rely on the spring in the lock or latch to return the knob. Will Aged Brass and Polished Brass change over time?

From The Anvil makes Aged Brass and Polished Brass in solid, unlacquered brass. They are living finishes that darken over time, and can be polished to bring back the brighter finish. Satin and Burnished Brass are lacquered.

What lock or latch do I need?

The majority of From The Anvil knobs are unsprung, so they rely on the spring in the lock or latch. It recommends a 3, 4 or 5 inch heavy duty latch or lock.
