Traditional and Modern Night Latches for Front Doors

A night latch is fitted to the inside face of a front door and locks automatically when the door is closed, opening with a key from outside and a knob from inside. From The Anvil makes night latches in a traditional case and a modern case, designed to match its Black and Brass front door furniture.

They suit inward opening doors up to 54mm thick and are supplied with a brass rim cylinder, which can be swapped for a black rim cylinder sold separately. For insurance, use a night latch alongside a British Standard mortice deadlock.

Night Latches: Questions

Is a night latch enough to secure a front door?

A night latch on its own is not usually enough for insurance. Fit it alongside a 5 lever mortice deadlock to BS 3621, and check the wording of your own policy.

Can I change the cylinder on a night latch?

Yes. From The Anvil night latches come with a brass rim cylinder, and black rim cylinders are sold separately to match black door furniture.
