Heritage Brass - Combination Finish Collection

Dual Finish, Split Finish and Porcelain Door Handles and Knobs

The Heritage Brass combination finish range by M.Marcus brings together everything made in more than one finish or material: dual and split finish lever handles, two tone kitchen handles and cabinet knobs, and porcelain door knobs on solid brass bases. Two finishes on one piece pick out the shape of a design, so a plain lever or knob gains detail without becoming fussy.

The Combination Finishes

  • Apollo: polished chrome and satin chrome, on Hilton, Henley, Centaur, Ambassador, Saturn, Saturn Long and Howard levers, the Ellipse lever on rose and matching escutcheons.
  • Mercury: polished nickel and satin nickel, on Ambassador, Buckingham, Edwardian and Vienna levers, Ellipse and Vienna levers on rose, escutcheons and bathroom turns.
  • Jupiter: gold plate and satin nickel, on Ambassador, Buckingham, Edwardian, Lisboa, Saturn, Saturn Long and Vienna levers.
  • Mayfair: polished brass and satin brass, on Hilton and Henley levers.
  • Chrome and brass: polished chrome and polished brass, on Vienna and Pyramid levers on rose, escutcheons and bathroom turns.
  • Matt bronze and satin brass: Phoenix and Phoenix Knurled levers on rose, slim escutcheons, a bathroom turn and cabinet pulls and knobs.
  • Matt bronze and satin nickel: cabinet pulls and knobs.

Dual Finish Door Handles

Shop all dual and split finish door handles, or by type: dual finish door handles on backplate in latch, lock, euro profile and bathroom versions, and dual finish door handles on rose. See everything for doors in combination finish door furniture.

Two Tone Kitchen Handles and Cabinet Knobs

The combination finish kitchen and cabinet hardware combines matt bronze with satin brass or satin nickel on every piece. There are Metro, Step, Hexagonal and Knurled pulls on a plate in 96mm, 128mm and 160mm, and Hexagon, Disc, Knurled Disc, Domed Disc and Round Hammered knobs in 32mm and 38mm.

Porcelain Door Knobs and Door Furniture

Porcelain door knobs come in Plain White, Gold Line, White Crackle and Cream Crackle, each on a porcelain, polished brass, antique brass, matt bronze, polished chrome or satin nickel base. Match them with porcelain finger plates and covered keyhole escutcheons in porcelain door furniture, and porcelain cabinet knobs in 32mm and 38mm.

Care

Apollo and the other chrome finishes: regularly removing dirt and watermarks with a non-abrasive cloth will help maintain the life of these finishes. External fittings will also benefit from a periodic light oiling of springs and moving parts.

Lacquered finishes, comprising polished brass, satin nickel, antique brass, matt bronze, satin brass, Jupiter, Mercury and Mayfair: all lacquered finishes will eventually break down over time. Lacquer breakdown will occur more frequently on products exposed to the climate, particularly in coastal areas and in polluted environments. Regularly removing dirt and watermarks with a non-abrasive cloth will help maintain the life of this finish. For products used externally, applying a non-abrasive light wax coating will protect the lacquer and could extend its life. Do not use metal cleaners or aerosol sprays, as these will damage the lacquer. External fittings will also benefit from a periodic light oiling of springs and moving parts. The life of the lacquer is beyond the manufacturer's control, and therefore cannot be guaranteed.

Combination Finish Questions

What is a dual finish door handle?
A handle with two finishes on the same piece, such as polished and satin chrome in the Apollo finish. The contrast highlights the shape of the lever and backplate.

Do dual finish handles come with a latch?
No. Heritage Brass handles are sold without locks or latches. Choose a York Security latch or lock with a faceplate to suit one of the two finishes, or ask us to help.

Are porcelain door knobs solid porcelain?
The knob is porcelain. It sits on either a porcelain base or a solid brass base in polished brass, antique brass, matt bronze, polished chrome or satin nickel.

Do the two tone kitchen handles come in different sizes?
Yes. The pulls on a plate come in 96mm, 128mm and 160mm, and the knobs in 32mm and 38mm.

The Dual and Split Finishes Explained

A dual or split finish puts two finishes on one handle, usually a polished finish alongside a satin one. The contrast picks out the edges and shape of the lever, so even a simple design looks crafted. Here is what each Heritage Brass combination finish is made of.

Apollo. M.Marcus describes Apollo as a fusion of polished chrome and satin chrome. It is the coolest and most modern of the dual finishes, and sits well in contemporary homes with chrome or brushed steel elsewhere. Designs include Hilton, Henley, Centaur, Ambassador, Saturn and Howard.

Mercury. A fusion of polished nickel and satin nickel. Nickel is warmer than chrome, so Mercury suits period homes that want a silver finish without the cold look of chrome, on designs such as Buckingham, Edwardian and Vienna.

Jupiter. Gold plate with satin nickel, the boldest contrast in the range, for doors that are meant to be noticed. Jupiter comes on Ambassador, Buckingham, Lisboa, Saturn and Vienna levers.

Mayfair. Polished brass with satin brass, a tonal pairing for traditional homes that want warmth with a little texture. It comes on the Hilton and Henley designs.

Chrome and brass, and matt bronze. The chrome and brass finish pairs polished chrome with polished brass on Vienna and Pyramid levers on rose. Matt bronze is paired with satin brass on Phoenix levers, escutcheons and cabinet hardware, and with satin nickel on cabinet hardware.

Matching the rest of the door. Hinges, escutcheons and locks are usually chosen in one of the two finishes. Take the satin half of the finish for a quieter look, or the polished half to echo the shine. See all dual finish door handles to compare them side by side.

Porcelain knobs, finger plates and two tone kitchen handles

Porcelain and Two Tone Hardware

Porcelain door knobs and two tone kitchen hardware bring colour and texture to a door or cupboard in a way a single metal finish cannot. Here is what is in each range.

Four porcelain designs. Porcelain door knobs come in Plain White, Gold Line, White Crackle and Cream Crackle. The crackle glazes have a fine crazed surface that suits cottages and period homes, while Plain White is clean and simple.

Choose the base. Each porcelain mortice knob comes on a porcelain base or on a solid brass base in polished brass, antique brass, matt bronze, polished chrome or satin nickel, so the knob can match the hinges and other metalwork on the door.

Matching porcelain door furniture. Porcelain finger plates and covered keyhole escutcheons come in the same four designs, so a door can be finished entirely in porcelain. See them together in porcelain door furniture.

Porcelain cupboard knobs. The same four designs come as porcelain cabinet knobs in 32mm and 38mm, all porcelain, for kitchen cupboards, dressers and bedroom furniture.

Two tone kitchen handles. The combination finish cabinet hardware combines matt bronze with satin brass or satin nickel, in Metro, Step, Hexagonal and Knurled pulls on a plate and Hexagon, Disc, Knurled Disc, Domed Disc and Round Hammered knobs.

Care. Wipe porcelain with a soft damp cloth. For the metal bases and two tone hardware, remove dirt and watermarks with a non-abrasive cloth and avoid metal cleaners and aerosol sprays.

More Combination Finish Questions

What is the difference between a dual finish and a split finish?

Nothing really: both put two finishes on one piece, and the names are used almost interchangeably. Apollo and Mercury are usually called dual finishes, and Jupiter and Mayfair split finishes.

Is porcelain the same as ceramic?

Porcelain is a type of ceramic, fired to make it hard and smooth. If you are searching for ceramic cupboard knobs or ceramic door knobs, the porcelain range is what you need.

What size are the porcelain finger plates?

The Plain White, White Crackle and Cream Crackle finger plates are 280 x 77mm, and the Gold Line finger plate is 274 x 75mm.

What hinges go with dual finish handles?

Choose hinges in one of the two finishes. For Apollo use polished or satin chrome, for Mercury polished or satin nickel, and for Mayfair polished or satin brass.

Which finish is the most modern?

Apollo, the polished and satin chrome finish, has the most contemporary look. Jupiter, with gold plate and satin nickel, is the boldest.
