Brass House Numbers and Letters, Grouped by Range

Every Heritage Brass house number and letter by M.Marcus is here, in six ranges and ten finishes. Each one is cast in solid brass and sold singly, so you only order the digits and letters you need. Part of the Heritage Brass external door hardware range.

Choose Your Range

Choose a Size

3 inch house numbers (76mm) suit front doors, gates and walls. 2 inch door numbers (51mm) suit flat doors, offices and narrow stiles. Prefer screws you can see? Compare all face fix door numbers.

Brass, Chrome or Black Door Numbers

The three most searched colours have their own pages: brass door numbers in four gold tone finishes, chrome door numbers in polished and satin chrome, and black house numbers in matt black. Or shop by exact finish: antique brass, satin brass, polished brass, matt bronze, polished chrome, satin chrome, satin nickel, polished nickel and unlacquered brass.

Matching Front Door Furniture

Numbers and letters are made in the same finishes as the rest of the range, so they match a door knocker, letter plate and centre door knob. See all Heritage Brass door furniture accessories.

House Number Questions

Are Heritage Brass house numbers sold singly?
Yes. Each number and letter is sold on its own, so order one of each digit you need. For house number 22, order two of the number 2.

What size house numbers should I choose?
3 inch (76mm) numbers are the usual choice for front doors, gate posts and walls because they read clearly from the pavement. 2 inch (51mm) numbers suit flat doors, office doors and narrow door stiles.

Can I add a letter to my house number?
Yes. The C1565 letters A to Z are 2 inch high, the same height as the C1567 and C1568 numbers, so a flat number such as 12A matches in size and finish.

Which house numbers have no visible screws?
The C1564 concealed fix numbers fix from the rear for a floating look, the C1568 numbers are self adhesive and the C1565 letters are pin fixed. The C1560, C1566 and C1567 numbers screw through the face.

Placement, spacing and fixing

How to Fit Brass House Numbers

1. Pick the spot: house numbers should be easy to read from the pavement, so most people fix them at eye level on the door, on the frame beside it or on the wall next to the door. On a door with a letter plate, numbers often sit centrally above it.

2. Choose the size: use 3 inch house numbers on front doors, walls and gate posts, and 2 inch door numbers on flat doors and narrow stiles.

3. Mark out the spacing: lay the numbers out on masking tape first, keep the gaps even and check they are level with a spirit level before you drill.

4. Fix to suit the surface: face fix door numbers screw straight into timber doors and posts. Concealed fix house numbers fix from the rear for a floating look on doors, render and brick. Self adhesive door numbers need no drilling, so they suit composite and uPVC doors.

House Numbers and Letters Questions

Which house numbers suit a composite or uPVC door?

The C1568 self adhesive door numbers stick on with no drilling, so they will not damage the door skin. Clean and degrease the surface first for the best bond.

Will brass house numbers tarnish outside?

Lacquered finishes such as polished brass are coated to slow tarnishing. Unlacquered brass house numbers have no coating, so they darken and develop a patina over time unless polished. Clean all finishes with a soft damp cloth and avoid abrasive cleaners.

Which finish is best for a black or painted front door?

Brass numbers stand out on dark doors such as black, navy and green: see all brass door numbers. On white, grey or modern doors, chrome door numbers or matt black house numbers give a clean contrast.
