Heritage Brass Centre Door Knobs

Solid Brass Front Door Centre Knobs by M.Marcus

Every Heritage Brass centre door knob by M.Marcus is here: seven designs in up to ten finishes, all cast in solid brass with a through bolt fixing. A centre knob is a fixed pull for the middle of a front door, so it gives you something to close the door with and finishes a period or modern door with a classic brass detail. Part of the Heritage Brass external door hardware range.

Brass, Chrome, Nickel or Black

Brass centre door knobs are the most searched, and come in four gold tones including unlacquered brass. Or shop by exact finish: antique brass, satin brass, polished brass, matt bronze, polished chrome, satin chrome, satin nickel and polished nickel. The V900 round knob is also made in matt black; compare all black centre door knobs.

Every finish is made across the range, so your knob will match a Heritage Brass door knocker, letter plate and house numbers. See all Heritage Brass door furniture accessories, read our centre door knobs buyer's guide, or compare every brand in our centre door knobs range.

Centre Door Knob Questions

What is a centre door knob?
A centre door knob is a fixed knob bolted through the middle of a front door. It is used to pull the door closed and does not turn or work a latch, so it is fitted alongside a nightlatch, sashlock or multipoint lock.

What size centre door knob do I need?
A 3 inch (76mm) knob suits most four and six panel front doors. Choose 3 1/2 inch for a large or wide door, or 2 1/2 inch for a narrow middle rail or a cottage door.

Which Heritage Brass centre door knobs come in unlacquered brass?
The V900 round, V890 stepped octagonal and RR906 reeded beehive knobs are made in unlacquered brass, which ages to a natural patina. The V900 round is also made in matt black.

Will the knob match my door knocker and letter plate?
Yes, if you choose the same Heritage Brass finish. Every finish is made across the range, so knobs, knockers, letter plates and house numbers in the same finish match exactly.

Size, style, finish and fitting

How to Choose a Front Door Centre Knob

1. Pick the size for your door: 3 inch knobs (V900, V901, V908, V890) suit most four and six panel front doors. Go up to 3 1/2 inch (V905 stepped round or RR906 reeded beehive) on a wide or tall door, or down to the 2 1/2 inch V880 octagonal on a narrow middle rail or cottage door. Check the projection too: 72mm to 87mm gives plenty of room for your fingers.

2. Match the style of the house: round and Victorian centre door knobs suit Victorian terraces and villas, octagonal and reeded knobs suit Georgian and Regency doors, and the square centre door knob suits Art Deco and modern doors.

3. Choose a finish that will last outdoors: lacquered finishes such as polished and satin brass stay bright for longer; unlacquered brass and polished nickel are left uncoated and will mellow with the weather unless polished.

4. Fit it in the right place: fix the knob through the middle rail, centred on the door width, at roughly the same height as the lock. A through bolt holds it from the inside. Our centre door knobs buyer's guide has more on positioning.

Front Door Knob Questions

Can I fit a centre door knob to a composite or uPVC door?

Usually yes, if the door has a solid middle rail for the through bolt. Check the door thickness and ask your door supplier whether the rail can be drilled. If you are unsure, our team can help check the fixing before you order.

Does a centre door knob lock the door?

No. A centre knob is a fixed pull and has no latch or lock. Fit it alongside a nightlatch, sashlock or multipoint lock, and use it to pull the door closed behind you.

What is a beehive door knob?

A beehive knob is a round knob with stepped rings that look like a traditional beehive. The Heritage Brass RR906 adds a reeded pattern, so it matches the Heritage Brass reeded door furniture range.

Should the door knob be the same finish as the knocker?

For the best look, yes. Heritage Brass makes knobs, door knockers, letter plates and house numbers in the same finishes, so everything on the door matches exactly.
