What is an oval profile escutcheon?

An oval profile escutcheon is a cover with a shaped hole for an oval cylinder, fitted around the cylinder on the door for a neat, finished look.

How is it different from a euro escutcheon?

An oval escutcheon suits an oval profile cylinder, while a euro escutcheon suits the far more common euro cylinder. Match it to the cylinder on your door.

Are oval cylinder locks still used?

Oval cylinders are still found on some older doors, but most new cylinder locks use a euro profile cylinder, so a euro escutcheon is the usual choice today.

Oval Escutcheons Explained

An oval profile escutcheon has a shaped hole to suit an oval cylinder on oval profile locks. Oval cylinders are now far less common than euro cylinders, so check the lock on your door before ordering: most cylinder doors today need euro profile escutcheons and a euro cylinder. For a traditional keyhole use standard profile escutcheons. Compare the wider oval profile escutcheons range.
