The From The Anvil Locking Monkeytail Fastener - LH in Beeswax is a Monkeytail casement fastener, sometimes called a cockspur handle, which holds a casement window shut against the frame. It is sold individually. It locks by way of a grub screw. This is the left hand version: standing inside looking out, a window hinged on the left needs a left hand handle.

Product Features

  • Designed to fit casement windows and to match the products in our Monkeytail range.
  • Our handmade fasteners are forged from mild steel, giving them unrivalled strength and an abundance of character.
  • These fasteners are handed, so it's important to make sure you choose the correct hand. From the inside looking out, if your window is hinged on the right hand side then a right hand fastener is required and vice versa.
  • Includes a mortice plate and hook plate for different fitting options.
  • The fastener has a locking mechanism by way of a grub screw.
  • Supplied with matching SS wood screws.

About the Monkeytail Design

The Monkeytail collection is our most traditional style, taking inspiration from original 18th century design. See the full From The Anvil Monkeytail range for matching door, window and cabinet hardware.

Beeswax Finish

Beeswax is our most traditional finish with a soft, natural aesthetic featuring subtle blue and deep red ochre tones which are preserved in the steel during the manufacturing process; this finish is ideally suited to older, traditional dwellings and cottage interiors.

Beeswax products are hand forged from mild steel. After forging, the subtle colours in the metal are preserved by dipping the products in hot beeswax, resulting in the soft, matte richness.

Other Finishes

This Locking Monkeytail Fastener - LH is also available in Black and Pewter Patina. See every finish in From The Anvil casement fasteners.

Care & Maintenance

Due to temperature changes or packaging, a Beeswax product may occasionally show signs of a white bloom upon opening. This can be buffed with a soft cloth to remove.

Although this finish already offers a very strong barrier against environmental conditions, we recommend re-applying a small amount of our 'Maintenance Wax' (33002) periodically with a cloth or brush which provides additional protection to the surface of your product and further protects this from any harmful external elements.

To increase the mechanical life expectancy of your products, we recommend regular oiling of all moving parts using our '3-in-1 Oil' (92337). This process is also highly recommended during initial installation.

*Please note that where possible we recommend using our External Beeswax products (in place of standard Beeswax) in areas of your property where damp conditions are expected such as kitchens and bathrooms. Light surface rust may appear if using our standard Beeswax finish in damp conditions, but can be removed with ease using 00 grade wire wool, followed by an application of 'Maintenance Wax' (33002).

Matching Hardware

Pair this fastener with matching casement stays in the same design and finish, and add a locking stay pin to secure the stay. For espag windows, see espagnolette handles. Browse all beeswax window handles. The From The Anvil Monkeytail range has matching door handles and cabinet hardware.
