About the Antique Brass finish

Antique brass is a darkened, aged brass tone that looks as if the handle has been in the house for decades. It is the most searched brass finish in the UK and the natural choice for cottages, farmhouses, Victorian and Edwardian homes, and painted panel doors in heritage colours.

Latches, Escutcheons and Matching Hardware

Mortice knobs need a tubular latch with a long enough backset for your knuckles to clear the door frame. See our latches for mortice knobs, or a 4 or 5 inch long backset latch for larger knobs. Add matching Heritage Brass escutcheons on lock doors, and choose from our antique brass York locks and latches so the forend matches. Match hinges and accessories from the Heritage Brass antique brass door furniture range.

Caring for the antique brass finish

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Do not use metal polish or abrasive cleaners, as they will strip the aged tone and leave bright spots.

Antique Brass Mortice Knob Questions

Are mortice knobs sold as a pair?

Yes. Heritage Brass mortice knobs are supplied as a pair with a spindle and fixings. The latch or lock is sold separately.

Should I choose knobs on rose or on backplate?

Knobs on rose suit doors with a tubular latch or where the keyhole has its own escutcheon. Knobs on backplate put the keyhole, bathroom turn or euro cut-out on the plate and cover old fixing holes.
