Cranked and Necked Door Bolts in Solid Brass

A cranked door bolt, also called a necked bolt, has a step in the neck so the bolt can reach a keep fixed to a frame or surface that is not level with the face of the door. It is the usual choice for rebated doors, stable doors and doors that sit back in the frame. Barrel or Flat Bolt?

Necked barrel bolts have a round bolt and come 1, 1.25 and 1.5 inch wide. The necked flat door bolt has a rectangular bolt in 6 and 8 inch sizes.

Straight or Cranked Door Bolt?

A straight door bolt is used where the door closes flush with the frame, so the bolt and keep sit on the same flat surface. A cranked door bolt, also called a necked bolt, has a step in the neck so the keep can be fixed to a frame that sits at a different level, as on most rebated doors. For double doors and French doors, flush bolts are recessed into the door so nothing projects.
