Flat Section Door Bolts in Solid Brass

A flat door bolt has a rectangular bolt rather than a round barrel, giving a slimmer, more architectural profile on doors, shutters and cupboards. Heritage Brass by M.Marcus make a straight flat bolt in 4, 6 and 8 inch sizes and a necked flat bolt in 6 and 8 inch for rebated doors, all about 35mm wide.

Straight or Cranked Door Bolt?

A straight door bolt is used where the door closes flush with the frame, so the bolt and keep sit on the same flat surface. A cranked door bolt, also called a necked bolt, has a step in the neck so the keep can be fixed to a frame that sits at a different level, as on most rebated doors. For double doors and French doors, flush bolts are recessed into the door so nothing projects.
