Heritage Brass Door Pull Handles

Front doors, sliding doors and internal doors

Choosing the Right Pull Handle for Your Door

A pull handle has to look right and feel solid in the hand, because it is the first thing people touch. The best choice depends on the door it is going on.

Front doors and external doors: a long brass bar on a front door makes a strong first impression. Choose bolt through pull handles or back to back pull handles so the fixings sit on the inside face. 450mm pull handles and large door pull handles suit most front doors, and polished brass or antique brass suit period front doors.

Sliding doors and barn doors: surface-mounted sliding doors are pulled from both sides, so they need a matching pair. See our sliding door pull handles and barn door pull handles, or pick a T bar pull handle as a back to back set.

Internal doors, kitchens and cupboards: face fix pull handles and 300mm pull handles suit internal doors, larders and utility rooms. For smaller doors, see small pull handles. Doors pushed from one side look best with a matching push and pull set.

Pull Handle Styles Explained

What is a T bar pull handle?

A T bar pull handle is a straight round bar held off the door on two cylindrical standoffs. It is the most popular shape for modern front doors, internal doors and sliding doors. See our T bar door handles.

What is a D pull handle?

A D pull handle is a single curved bar that forms a D shape from the face of the door. It is a simple, comfortable grip that suits both modern and traditional doors. See the V1475 tubular D pull handle.

What is a guardsman pull handle?

A guardsman pull is a straight bar on cranked legs with round bases, a traditional style often used on front doors and shop doors. See the V2057 guardsman pull handle.

What is a cranked pull handle?

A cranked pull handle has a grip that steps out from two flat fixing plates, giving more knuckle room. It is a classic choice for cottage, ledged and period doors. See the V1150 cranked pull handle.

Are Heritage Brass pull handles solid brass?

Yes. Heritage Brass pull handles are made by M.Marcus from solid brass and then plated or lacquered in the finish you choose.

Can I see Heritage Brass pull handles before I buy?

Yes. Our Kendal showroom and Carlisle trade counter both have a large Heritage Brass display, so you can compare sizes, designs and finishes in person.
