Heritage Brass Victorian Door Knockers

Victorian and Georgian Style Front Door Knockers

These are the classic period knocker shapes seen on Victorian terraces, Georgian town houses and Regency villas. Every one is cast in solid brass by M.Marcus and made in the same finishes as the rest of the Heritage Brass range.

Choosing a Period Knocker

Match the scale of the knocker to the door: a 7 1/4 inch urn or lion head suits a tall six panel door, while the 6 inch urn or ring knocker suits a cottage or narrower door. Polished brass and antique brass are the most traditional finishes, with polished nickel a popular alternative on Victorian doors.

Fitting a Door Knocker

Most knockers are fitted at about eye level, roughly 1.4 to 1.5m from the ground, centred on the door or on the middle rail. Heritage Brass knockers bolt through the door, so check the bolt length suits your door thickness. Our door knocker buying and fitting guide covers fitting height and fixings in more detail.
