About the Antique Brass finish

Antique brass is a darkened, aged brass tone that looks as if the handle has been in the house for decades. It is the most searched brass finish in the UK and the natural choice for cottages, farmhouses, Victorian and Edwardian homes, and painted panel doors in heritage colours.

Choose antique brass handles and knobs by type

• antique brass lever handles on rose for a clean look on internal doors
• antique brass door handles on backplate with latch, lock, bathroom and euro plates
• antique brass mortice knobs for period panel doors
• antique brass centre door knobs for front doors
• antique brass door pull handles and flush pulls for pull doors and sliding doors
• antique brass bathroom door handles with thumb turn plates

Not every design is made in every finish, so use the filters to see what is available in antique brass.

Matching antique brass door furniture

Finish the door with matching hinges, escutcheons and accessories from our Heritage Brass antique brass door furniture collection. Our team at the Kendal and Carlisle showrooms works with Heritage Brass every day and can help you check finishes, sizes and locks before you order.

Complete the look with antique brass door furniture accessories in the same finish: door knockers, letter plates, house numbers, escutcheons, bathroom thumb turns and door stops, so every fitting on the door matches.

Caring for the antique brass finish

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry. Do not use metal polish or abrasive cleaners, as they will strip the aged tone and leave bright spots.

Antique Brass Door Handle Questions

Does antique brass go with oak doors?

Yes. The darker tone sits well against oak, walnut and painted doors, and it hides fingermarks better than polished finishes.

Will antique brass match other antique brass hardware?

Aged finishes vary between makers. Buying handles, hinges and accessories from the same Heritage Brass range is the easiest way to get a close match.

Do Heritage Brass handles come with a latch?

No. Lever handles on rose and backplate come as a pair with a spindle and fixings. Add a tubular latch, sash lock or bathroom lock to suit each door.
