• Flat finger plates: a slim 1.2mm plate in 305mm, 350mm and 500mm lengths, the most popular choice for internal doors
• Traditional finger plates: a deeper plate with an 8mm projection, in 310mm and 500mm lengths

Finger Plates with Pull Handles and Mortice Knobs

On push and pull doors, fit a finger plate on the push side and a Heritage Brass door pull handle on the pull side. In traditional homes, a finger plate above Heritage Brass mortice knobs is a classic Victorian and Edwardian look, and the porcelain plates match the porcelain knobs and escutcheons exactly.

Finger Plate Questions

What is a finger plate?
A finger plate, also called a push plate, is a flat plate fixed to the push side of a door, just above the handle. It protects the paint and timber from finger marks and wear where people push the door open.

Which size finger plate do I need?
A 305mm (12 inch) plate suits most internal doors. Choose a 350mm or 500mm plate for tall or busy doors, or the 282mm plate where the door stile is narrow. Most Heritage Brass metal finger plates are 76mm wide.

Do finger plates go with pull handles or knobs?
Both. On push and pull doors, fit the finger plate on the push side and a pull handle on the other. On traditional panel doors, fit the finger plate just above the mortice knob. Use the same finish for an exact match.

Do you sell porcelain finger plates?
Yes. Heritage Brass porcelain finger plates come in plain white, gold line, white crackle and cream crackle, to match the porcelain mortice knobs and escutcheons in the same pattern.

How are finger plates fitted?
Heritage Brass finger plates have pre-drilled holes and come with matching screws. Fix the plate on the push side of the door, centred on the stile, just above the handle or knob.
