About the Polished Brass finish

Polished brass is the classic bright gold brass finish. It is a traditional choice for Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian homes, front doors and panel doors, and it also works as a bold accent in modern interiors.

Latches, Escutcheons and Matching Hardware

Mortice knobs need a tubular latch with a long enough backset for your knuckles to clear the door frame. See our latches for mortice knobs, or a 4 or 5 inch long backset latch for larger knobs. Add matching Heritage Brass escutcheons on lock doors, and choose from our polished brass York locks and latches so the forend matches. Match hinges and accessories from the Heritage Brass polished brass door furniture range.

Caring for the polished brass finish

Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and dry. The finish is lacquered, so do not use brass polish or abrasive pads, which will break down the lacquer.

Polished Brass Mortice Knob Questions

Are mortice knobs sold as a pair?

Yes. Heritage Brass mortice knobs are supplied as a pair with a spindle and fixings. The latch or lock is sold separately.

Should I choose knobs on rose or on backplate?

Knobs on rose suit doors with a tubular latch or where the keyhole has its own escutcheon. Knobs on backplate put the keyhole, bathroom turn or euro cut-out on the plate and cover old fixing holes.
