Caring for Polished Chrome in the Kitchen

Regularly removing dirt and watermarks with a non-abrasive cloth will help maintain the life of the finish. In a kitchen, wipe handles with a soft damp cloth and dry them. For a softer brushed look that sits closer to brushed steel, compare satin chrome kitchen handles.

Chrome Kitchen Handle Questions

Do chrome kitchen handles match stainless steel appliances?
They sit well together as both are silver. Polished chrome is a bright mirror finish; if your appliances are brushed steel, satin chrome is the closer match.

Are there chrome T-bar handles?
Yes. There are T-bar, hammered T-bar and raindrop T-bar pull handles, plus T-bar knobs in hexagon, knurled and stepped designs, with or without a rose.

What sizes are the chrome kitchen handles?
Pull handles run from 76mm to 480mm fixing centres, and knobs from 21mm to 90mm, so small drawers and tall larder doors can match.

Are Heritage Brass chrome cabinet handles solid brass?
Yes. They are made by M.Marcus in solid brass with a polished chrome finish.

Chrome Handles to Suit Your Kitchen Style

Chrome works with almost any kitchen, but the shape of the handle changes the whole feel of the room. Start with the style of your units.

Modern slab and gloss kitchens. Slim bars keep the lines clean: Slim Metro, Square Metro, Wire and Bauhaus chrome cabinet handles, chosen in longer sizes on wide drawers, or chrome edge pulls for a near handleless finish.

Shaker and in-frame kitchens. The classic pairing is chrome cup handles on the drawers, such as Hampshire, Shropshire or Military, with round, disc or Victorian chrome cupboard knobs on the doors.

Art Deco and 1930s. The Deco pull handle, Deco cup pull and Deco and round Deco knobs share a stepped, geometric look that suits chrome particularly well, alongside the reeded knobs.

Industrial and contemporary. Knurled and partial knurl handles, the Industrial pull, T-bar and raindrop T-bar handles and knurled knobs give a crafted, tactile feel against concrete, tile and dark units.

Country and traditional. Durham, Colonial, Traditional and Henley Traditional pulls, Victorian round and oval knobs and drop handles suit painted timber kitchens and freestanding dressers.

Texture without changing finish. Hammered versions of the Metro, Wide Metro, Bauhaus and T-bar handles, hammered cup pulls and hammered knobs break up the mirror surface while staying in polished chrome.

Wall units, drawers, larders and furniture

The Right Chrome Handle for Each Door and Drawer

A kitchen has many different doors and drawers, and each one works best with a particular handle. Here is a quick guide.

Wall cupboards. Use a knob or a short pull, around 96mm to 128mm, fitted near the bottom corner so it is easy to reach.

Base unit doors and drawers. Pulls of 128mm to 160mm suit most standard units. Fit drawer pulls centrally, and door pulls near the top corner of base unit doors.

Pan drawers and wide drawers. Longer pulls of 192mm to 320mm, or two knobs, make heavy drawers easier to open and look in proportion on wide fronts.

Tall larder and appliance doors. The 480mm pull handles give a strong vertical line on full height doors.

Dressers, display cabinets and furniture. Use T-bar knobs or drop handles on drawers, a cupboard latch with an oval turn on cupboard doors, and the showcase catch on glazed cabinet doors, all in polished chrome.

Replacing old handles. Measure from the centre of one screw hole to the centre of the other and choose the same fixing centres. The Bridge pull fits 128mm or 160mm and 192mm or 224mm, and the Military cup pull fits two spacings too. See it all at our Kendal and Carlisle showrooms.

More Chrome Kitchen Handle Questions

Which chrome handles suit a handleless look?

Edge pulls, which fix to the edge of the door or drawer. In polished chrome there are 23, plain and hammered, in 50mm, 100mm and 200mm lengths.

What size knob should I use on kitchen cupboards?

32mm and 38mm are the most common sizes. There are also small 21mm to 28mm knobs for little drawers and larger knobs up to 90mm for statement doors.

What is a cupboard latch with an oval turn?

A latch that fixes to a cupboard door and holds it shut, turned by an oval knob. It suits dressers, larders and traditional cupboards.

Can I mix chrome knobs and pull handles in one kitchen?

Yes. Many kitchens use knobs on doors and pulls or cup handles on drawers. Keep to polished chrome throughout so everything matches.

Are there chrome drop handles for furniture?

Yes. Round drop handles in 50mm and 63mm, square 50mm, hexagon 51mm, and ornate plate and ornate round plate designs.
