Heritage Brass - Polished Nickel Door Furniture

Polished Nickel Door Handles, Door Knobs and Door Furniture by Heritage Brass

Heritage Brass polished nickel door furniture covers everything for internal and front doors in one finish: lever handles, mortice knobs, pull handles, bathroom thumb turns, door knockers, letter plates, house numbers, escutcheons, door stops, bolts and flush pulls. Polished nickel is a living finish, nickel plating on highly polished brass, with a bright shine and a gentle golden undertone that is warmer than polished chrome. The nickel is not coated, so it oxidises naturally. Buff it regularly with a soft cloth to keep it bright, or let it subtly take on an aged patina over time.

Polished Nickel Door Furniture Questions

What polished nickel door furniture is available?
Lever handles on backplates and roses, mortice knobs, pull handles, bathroom thumb turns, door knockers, letter plates, house numbers, escutcheons, door stops, bolts and flush pulls, all in Heritage Brass polished nickel.

Do the door handles come with a lock or latch?
No. Heritage Brass door handles are sold without locks or latches. See the York Security range by M.Marcus for locks and latches to go behind them.

Which handle do I need for a bathroom door?
Choose a bathroom lock handle on a backplate with a matching bathroom lock, or a lever on rose with a separate polished nickel bathroom thumb turn.

Will polished nickel on a front door change colour?
It can. The nickel is not coated, so it oxidises naturally and, if not buffed regularly with a soft cloth, it will subtly take on an aged patina over time.

Choosing Polished Nickel Door Handles

Lever handles. Polished nickel handles on backplates come as latch, lock and bathroom versions, so match the backplate to the lock or latch in the door. Handles on rose work on any door, with a separate escutcheon or thumb turn where needed.

Knobs. Polished nickel mortice knobs in Whitehall, Hampstead, Chelsea, Victoria and Reeded designs suit period panel doors, and centre door knobs finish a front door.

Pull handles. Polished nickel door pull handles come in the Henley, Deco and Tubular designs, all bolt through fixing.

Locks and latches. Heritage Brass handles are sold without locks or latches. See York Security polished chrome and nickel locks and latches to go behind them.

Matching, care and showrooms

Matching Polished Nickel Door Furniture

One finish for the whole door. Match the handle, escutcheon, door stop and hinges in polished nickel, and carry it through to the kitchen and windows.

A living finish. Polished nickel is nickel plating on highly polished brass. The nickel is not coated, so it oxidises naturally. Buff it regularly with a soft cloth to keep it bright, or let it subtly take on an aged patina over time.

Reeded designs. Several polished nickel handles come in a reeded version. See all Heritage Brass reeded door handles.

See it in person. Heritage Brass polished nickel is on display at our Kendal and Carlisle showrooms. Trade Door Handles is part of T.H. Wiggans Ironmongery, trading since 1976.

More Polished Nickel Door Furniture Questions

Do I need a backplate handle or a rose handle?

A backplate handle has the keyhole or bathroom turn built into the plate. A rose handle sits on a small round or square rose, with a separate escutcheon or thumb turn added where needed.

Which polished nickel handle do I need for an older front door?

Older front doors often use a mortice knob or a centre door knob, with a door knocker, letter plate and house numbers to match in polished nickel.

Do polished nickel door handles come in pairs?

Lever handles are usually sold as a pair for both sides of the door. Check the unit of sale on each product page.

How do I clean polished nickel door handles?

Buff them regularly with a soft, dry cloth to keep the bright shine. The nickel is not coated, so without buffing it will subtly take on an aged patina.

Can I get polished nickel hinges to match?

Yes. Heritage Brass makes washered and thrust bearing brass butt hinges in polished nickel, to match the door handles.
