Heritage Brass - Polished Nickel Kitchen and Cabinet Hardware

Polished Nickel Kitchen Handles, Drawer Pulls and Cupboard Knobs

Heritage Brass polished nickel kitchen and cabinet hardware brings together around 300 solid brass cabinet pull handles, cupboard knobs, cup handles, edge pulls, T-bar knobs, drop handles and catches by M.Marcus. Polished nickel is a bright finish with a gentle golden undertone, warmer and softer than polished chrome, so nickel kitchen handles suit Shaker, painted and classic kitchens, and kitchens with nickel taps.

Polished Nickel, a Living Finish

Polished nickel is nickel plating on highly polished brass. The nickel finish is not coated, so it will oxidise naturally. Buff your handles regularly with a soft cloth to keep them bright. If they are not regularly buffed, the nickel plate will subtly change over time, taking on an aged patina.

The range also includes T-bar knobs, drop handles and cabinet catches for dressers and furniture. See every finish in the full Heritage Brass kitchen and cabinet hardware range, or by product: cabinet pull handles, cupboard knobs, cup handles and edge pulls.

Match the Rest of the House

Heritage Brass makes polished nickel across its door furniture, window furniture, hinges and accessories, so kitchen handles can match the door handles, windows and coat hooks. See the whole Heritage Brass polished nickel range.

Polished Nickel Kitchen Hardware Questions

What size kitchen handles should I choose?
Pull handles of 96mm to 160mm centres suit most wall and base units, while 192mm to 320mm suit tall doors and wide pan drawers. Measure between the existing holes if you are replacing handles.

Do polished nickel knobs match polished nickel pull handles?
Yes. Heritage Brass uses the same polished nickel finish across its cabinet pull handles, cupboard knobs, cup handles and edge pulls, so you can mix them in one kitchen.

Will polished nickel kitchen handles tarnish?
The nickel is not coated, so it will oxidise naturally. Buff the handles regularly with a soft cloth to keep them bright, or let them take on an aged patina over time.

What fixings come with Heritage Brass cabinet handles?
Pull handles come with M4 bolts in two lengths, and knobs come with M4 bolts, to suit different door and drawer front thicknesses.

Pull handle, knob and drop handle designs

Polished Nickel Kitchen Handle Designs

Pull handle designs. The polished nickel drawer pulls and cabinet handles come in around 40 designs. Clean, modern kitchens suit the Metro, Slim Metro, Square Metro, Bauhaus and Contour bars. Hexagon, Hex Angular and Apollo add a crisp faceted edge, Complete Knurl and Partial Knurl give a textured grip, and Durham, Colonial, Henley Traditional and the D shaped pulls suit period and country kitchens.

Knob designs. Choose from disc, stepped disc, knurled disc, reeded, ridge and hexagon polished nickel cupboard knobs for a modern look, or Victorian round, Victorian oval, beehive, Florence, Surrey and Venetian knobs for a traditional one. Most come in 32mm or 38mm.

For dressers and furniture. Drop handles in round, square, hexagon and ornate plate designs suit dressers, chests and bedside cabinets, and the cabinet catches include a showcase catch and a cupboard latch with an oval turn. T-bar knobs come in stepped, knurled and hexagon designs, with or without a rose.

Care, upkeep and matching

Living with Polished Nickel Kitchen Handles

Looking after polished nickel in a kitchen. Kitchen handles get touched with greasy and wet hands every day. Wipe them with a soft, damp cloth and dry them, then buff with a dry soft cloth to bring back the shine. The nickel is not coated, so if it is left unbuffed it will slowly take on an aged patina, which some people prefer in an older house.

Mirror shine or brushed? As a mirror finish, polished nickel shows fingerprints more than a brushed finish. If you want a nickel tone with less upkeep on a busy family kitchen, compare it with satin nickel kitchen handles.

Match the whole house. Carry the same polished nickel through to the door handles, windows and coat hooks, or see the whole Heritage Brass polished nickel range. Heritage Brass polished nickel is on display at our Kendal and Carlisle showrooms.

Polished Nickel Kitchen Handle Questions

Does polished nickel show fingerprints?

Yes, more than a brushed finish such as satin nickel, because it is a mirror finish. A quick buff with a dry soft cloth removes them.

Which polished nickel handles suit a period or country kitchen?

Cup handles on the drawers with Victorian or beehive knobs on the doors give a traditional look. For pull handles, the Durham, Colonial, Henley Traditional and D shaped designs suit older houses.

What is a drop handle?

A drop handle hangs from a single fixing or backplate and lifts up to pull the drawer. It is a traditional choice for dressers, chests of drawers and bedside cabinets.

What is a T-bar knob?

A T-bar knob is a short bar on a single fixing. It gives more grip than a round knob and looks neater than a pull handle on small doors and drawers.

Can I use one size of handle throughout the kitchen?

Yes. Many kitchens use one pull handle size, such as 128mm or 160mm centres, on every door and drawer for a consistent look, with a longer size on tall larder doors.
