A tubular latch is the mechanism inside an internal door that holds it closed until the handle or knob is turned. This collection brings together every tubular latch we stock from M.Marcus, including the York Security and CE ranges, in finishes chosen to match Heritage Brass door furniture.

Standard duty or heavy duty?

Standard (lightly sprung) tubular latches are made for handles that already have their own return spring, such as sprung lever handles and sprung mortice knobs. Heavy duty (architectural) tubular latches have a much stronger spring and are the right choice for unsprung levers, unsprung mortice knobs and heavier lever handles that need extra help returning to horizontal.

Which length do I need?

• 2.5 inch (64mm case) - the usual choice for lever handles on standard internal doors
• 3 inch (76mm case) - recommended for mortice knobs, giving knuckle clearance from the door frame
• 4 and 5 inch - long backset latches for wide stiles, period doors and large centre-set knobs
