York Security Satin Brass Locks and Latches

York Satin Brass Mortice Locks, Tubular Latches and Night Latches

Satin brass is the brushed, softly golden finish that has become a favourite for both modern and period homes. These York Security locks and latches by M.Marcus have satin brass faceplates, so the edge of every door matches satin brass door handles and knobs and the rest of the Heritage Brass satin brass range.

The York Satin Brass Range

Matching Locks to Satin Brass Handles

Start with the handle and work back to the lock. Latch handles on rose or backplate and mortice knobs need a tubular latch. Lock handles on a backplate need a sash lock, and a separate satin brass escutcheon covers the keyhole when the handle is on a rose. Euro lock handles need a euro sash lock, and bathroom handles or a thumb turn need a bathroom lock or bathroom deadbolt. Shop satin brass handles on backplate, satin brass hinges and, for the front door, a satin brass door knocker and letter plate. The Heritage Brass satin brass locks page has the matching thumbturn, rack bolt and 2 1/2 inch tubular latch.

The same York locks are made in polished brass and antique brass, or browse the full York Security locks and latches range.

Satin Brass Lock Questions

Why choose a satin brass faceplate?
The faceplate is the part of the lock you see on the edge of the door. A satin brass faceplate matches brushed satin brass handles, so nothing in a bright or silver finish catches the eye when the door is open.

What is the difference between a standard and an architectural tubular latch?
Both sit behind latch handles or mortice knobs. In satin brass the standard latch comes in 2 1/2 and 3 inch, and the architectural latch in 2 1/2, 3, 4 and 5 inch, so choose the longer sizes where a wider door stile or a larger knob needs the handle set further from the edge.

Which lock goes with a satin brass euro handle?
A York euro profile sash lock, in 2 1/2 or 3 inch, with a euro cylinder.

What is a roller bolt night latch?
It is a night latch with a roller bolt instead of a sprung latch, so the door is held closed by the roller and simply pushed or pulled to open.

Do Heritage Brass handles come with a lock or latch?
No. The handles are sold on their own, so choose the York latch or lock that suits the handle type and the door.
