Sash lifts and sash rings let you raise and lower a sliding sash window without gripping the glass or the frame. Sash lifts are usually fitted to the bottom rail of the lower sash. Sash Lift and Ring Questions

How many sash lifts do I need?
Most lower sashes use two sash lifts on the bottom rail, one towards each side, so the sash lifts evenly. Narrow sashes can use a single lift in the centre.

What is the difference between a sash lift and a sash ring?
A sash lift is a hook or handle that stands proud of the rail so you can grip it. A sash ring is a smaller fitting with a ring you hook a finger into. Both are used to raise and lower the sash, and both are usually fitted in pairs.

Will unlacquered brass sash window furniture tarnish?
Yes, by design. Unlacquered brass has no protective coating, so it darkens and develops a natural patina over time. Polish it with brass polish to keep it bright, or leave it to age.
