Polished Brass Window Fittings for Sash and Casement Windows

Heritage Brass polished brass window furniture by M.Marcus is 42 solid brass fittings for sash, casement, espagnolette and fanlight windows. Bright brass sash fasteners and casement stays are the traditional choice for Georgian and Victorian timber windows, and they match Heritage Brass polished brass door handles and door furniture throughout the house.

The Lacquered Polished Brass Finish

Polished brass is one of the M.Marcus lacquered finishes, sealed with a clear lacquer. All lacquered finishes will eventually break down over time, more quickly on products exposed to the weather, particularly in coastal areas and in polluted environments. Regularly remove dirt and watermarks with a non-abrasive cloth, and on external fittings a light coat of non-abrasive wax will protect the lacquer and could extend its life. Do not use metal cleaners or aerosol sprays, as these will damage the lacquer. The life of the lacquer is beyond the manufacturer's control, so it cannot be guaranteed.

Match the Rest of the House

Carry polished brass through to the polished brass door handles and knobs, door furniture, hinges and accessories, or see the whole Heritage Brass polished brass range. Window furniture is also made in satin brass, antique brass, matt bronze, polished chrome, satin chrome, polished nickel and satin nickel, and unlacquered in unlacquered brass window furniture.

Polished Brass Window Furniture Questions

Which fittings does a sash window need?
A sash fastener where the two sashes meet, a pair of sash lifts or a sash ring to raise the lower sash, and locking sash stops if you want to limit how far it opens.

What is the difference between a lockable and a standard fastener?
A lockable fastener can be locked shut with a small key for extra security. A standard fastener closes the window but does not lock.

What is a pole hook used for?
A pole hook fits to a high fanlight window so it can be opened and closed from the floor with a window pole.

Is polished brass window furniture suitable near the sea?
The lacquer breaks down much sooner in coastal areas. For windows near the sea, consider unlacquered brass, which can be polished back, instead.
