Heritage Brass Casement Stays

Brass Window Stays for Casement Windows

A casement stay is the arm fixed to the bottom rail of a casement window that holds it open. The holes along the stay drop over a stay pin on the frame, so you can fix the window at different openings and stop it swinging in the wind. Heritage Brass window stays by M.Marcus are made from solid brass, supplied with fixing screws, and match the Heritage Brass casement fasteners on the same window. Part of the Heritage Brass casement window furniture range.

Choose 8 inch (203mm) casement stays, 10 inch (254mm) casement stays or 12 inch (305mm) casement stays. Measure the bottom rail of the opening window and pick the longest stay that sits neatly along it when the window is closed.

Stay Pins and Window Stay Locks

If your window sash finishes flush with the frame, use a cranked stay pin. To lock the stay with the window shut or slightly open for ventilation, add casement stay locking pins. Both are in Heritage Brass casement window accessories.

Casement Stay Questions

What size casement stay do I need?
Heritage Brass casement stays come in 8 inch (203mm), 10 inch (254mm) and 12 inch (305mm). Measure the bottom rail of the opening casement and choose the longest stay that sits neatly along it when the window is closed. Longer stays give more opening positions, so wider windows usually suit 10 or 12 inch.

How does a casement stay work?
The stay is fixed to the bottom rail of the opening window. When the window is open, one of the holes along the stay drops over a pin fixed to the frame, holding the window in place. Lift the stay off the pin to close the window.

What is a sliding casement stay?
A sliding stay holds the window at any position along its length instead of at fixed holes, which gives finer control over how far the window opens.

What is a cranked casement stay pin?
A cranked stay pin is offset so it can be used when the window sash finishes flush with the frame and there is nowhere to fit a standard stay pin.
